Regarding his thoughts on the state’s pressing issues, Christie said the most important issue to him is curbing government corruption. Other matters he’s tuned into include, among others, consumer protection of seniors from scams; contributing to public safety and helping with the state’s prison problems.
“A year ago, people were talking about the fact that we had a governor who had been removed from office, a speaker of the House who had been convicted of a dozen felonies and a chief justice who had been removed from office,” Christie said. “People would ask why we can’t get good people to run. So instead of talking about it, I’m actually doing something.”
“I'm Chris Christie, and I plan to be Alabama's next attorney general. I've dedicated my life to serving others and fighting for those who need a voice. I am the kind of leader who will help change our state government's culture for the better,” Christie tweeted on Wednesday.
“I am pleased to announce that I am officially qualified to run for Attorney General of Alabama. Thank you for your support. Together, we can bring integrity back to the office,” Christie posted on Facebook upon qualifying to run on Tuesday.Christie’s platform includes protecting the people of Alabama, providing support to law enforcement and DAs and prosecuting government corruption.
"His having won makes me optimistic. But before he won, I was telling people that I thought I could win if Doug Jones just got close," Christie said. "I think if people look at the different candidates for AG, then people will vote for me."
"Chris Christie is running for office. But not THAT Chris Christie. "A political candidate with the same name as the brash and outspoken former New Jersey governor is running for attorney general in Alabama."
